A career built across three continents
Dr. Pimpalwar's training began at Government Medical College, Nagpur, and continued through general and pediatric surgical fellowships in India, the United Kingdom's Royal College of Surgeons, and a pediatric surgery fellowship at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He went on to hold academic appointments at the Baylor College of Medicine, the University of Missouri Health Care Children's Hospital — where he served as Surgeon-in-Chief — and the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Marshfield Children's Hospital.
Alongside clinical practice, he is a recognized early adopter of robotic and minimally invasive pediatric surgery, an editor of two surgical textbooks published by Springer Nature, and the founder of Peedh Parai International, a 501(c)(3) charity that has organized annual pediatric surgical missions since 2011. In 2023 he completed an Executive MBA at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, and co-founded ACAM, a medical device company designing low-cost surgical devices for resource-limited settings.

Peedh Parai International
Dr. Pimpalwar is the founder and chairman of Peedh Parai International, a registered 501(c)(3) pediatric surgical charity, and a member of the Global Pediatric Surgery Network, the Bal Mitra Foundation and Arpan Global Charity. Since 2011 he has led annual surgical missions — principally to Nagpur and Manipal, India, alongside earlier missions to Nairobi, Kenya and Quito, Ecuador — providing free reconstructive surgery for children with complex congenital anomalies.

Building the next generation of pediatric surgeons
At Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Pimpalwar developed the minimally invasive surgery (MIS) curriculum for general surgery residents, medical students and OB-GYN residents, including dry-lab, animal-lab and augmented/virtual reality simulation training. He has mentored numerous clinical and research fellows who now hold faculty positions internationally.
